Cycle Sisters is inviting community organisations and networks that work with Muslim women to partner with us to set up new, locally led women’s cycling groups outside London.
Over the past 10 years, Cycle Sisters has set up and run women’s cycling groups across multiple London boroughs. These groups create welcoming and empowering cycling spaces for Muslim and ethnically diverse women to build confidence, improve their health and connect with others.
Our work has been recognised through a number of national and regional awards for community impact and women’s leadership in cycling.
We’re now looking to work with trusted local organisations to bring this model to new areas.
What partnering with Cycle Sisters can look like
For many women, the idea of starting a cycling group is something they’ve thought about for a long time, but knowing where to begin can feel daunting.
“I’d been wanting to set up a cycle group in my area for a long time but just didn't know how to go about it. I’m so grateful for the wonderful support I've received from Cycle Sisters, introducing me to the right people and helping me every step of the way. It's been a whole lot of fun so far and the journey is just beginning.” Salma, Group Coordinator

Who we’re looking to partner with
We’re looking for organisations who have a combination of the following (not everything is required):
An established network of Muslim women in their local area who would be interested in joining a cycling group
Several women who are confident cyclists and have volunteer capacity to set up and run the group, and train as Ride Leaders
A wider pool of women who may be interested in becoming Ride Leaders
A constituted organisation - this isn’t essential, and we may be able to work around this or support you to put the appropriate set-up in place
A commitment to creating an inclusive space for Muslim women of all backgrounds and a welcoming approach to women from other backgrounds
Location focus
Initially, we’ll be prioritising partnerships in areas closer to London, including:
Berkshire
Hertfordshire
Bedfordshire
Essex
Kent
Surrey and neighbouring counties
We also welcome expressions of interest from organisations in other parts of the UK for future phases.
What we offer partner organisations
You won’t be starting from scratch.

We provide practical support, funding and tried-and-tested systems to help groups get up and running, including:
Volunteer Ride Leader training
British Cycling Ride Leadership Award
First aid
Bike maintenance
Support with access to bikes and equipment
Ride planning and delivery guidance
Booking software
Mentoring and support, including in-person visits
Becoming part of an established network of women-led cycling groups
