At Cycle Sisters, we’re all about finding simple, joyful ways to make cycling part of everyday life - and Eid is no exception.
For our Founder and CEO, Sarah Javaid, cycling has become a key part of her family’s Eid traditions. What started out during lockdown as a practical way to stay connected and deliver gifts has now become something she looks forward to every year: a chance to share joy, spend time outdoors, and bring a fresh twist to the celebration.
That first lockdown Eid set something in motion. The following year, Sarah and her family were back on their bikes - this time delivering homemade Eid bakes around their local neighbourhood. The tradition stuck.
These days, cycling is as much a part of Sarah’s Eid as prayer, food, and family:

“I always try to find a way to make cycling part of our Eid celebrations, because I don't want to go a day without going on my bike! We usually start our day by cycling around our local area to distribute Eid treats to our neighbours which we've baked with the kids. We live in a predominantly non-Muslim area, so it is a nice way to share our celebrations with our neighbours."
“Then, we load up all the Eid presents onto our bikes and cycle over to family for the day - dressed in our Eid finery, of course! There’s something quite fun about riding through the streets in fancy clothes!”
After all the socialising and celebrating, Sarah also makes space for some quiet time.
“The day after Eid, I try to get a chance for a solo ride. After all the noise, food, and non-stop socialising, nothing clears my head like a peaceful ride to reset and recover.”
Want to Try It Yourself? Here’s How to Make Cycling Part of Your Eid
If you’re looking to start your own cycling tradition this Eid, here are a few simple ways to get started:
1. Add a Festive Touch
Eid is a day of beauty and joy. Bring that spirit to your bike - wear bright clothes, decorate your basket, and don’t forget to snap a photo to remember the moment. (Feel free to tag us on social media!)
2. Explore Your Area
Use your bike to visit local parks, drop in on relatives, or discover somewhere new. Cycling gives you the freedom to take your time and see things differently.
3. Celebrate with Others
Invite friends or family for a short Eid ride. It doesn’t have to be long - just something fun to do together and make new memories.
4. Don’t Forget the Treats
After your ride, enjoy something sweet - homemade bakes, a stop at your favourite café!
Eid Mubarak from Cycle Sisters!
Whether you’re out delivering treats, cycling to see loved ones, or enjoying a peaceful ride the next day - we wish you a happy, healthy and joy-filled Eid.
And a huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us this Ramadan!
We’ve raised over £1,000 to support more Muslim women on their cycling journeys - and we’re so close to hitting our target.
